”To Free the Voice is to Free the Person!” – Kristin Linklater

About the Event

Discover what becomes possible when your body, breath and voice are free to respond in the moment.

This immersive and playful day offers a practical introduction to Kristin Linklater’s approach to voice and movement. Through physical and vocal exercises, you will explore how releasing unnecessary tension can create greater freedom, ease, range and expressiveness in both your voice and physical presence.

The work moves from physical awareness and breath into sound, resonance and articulation, gradually connecting the voice to thought, feeling and impulse. Using movement, imagery and spoken text, you will explore how to make your voice more responsive, expressive and alive — rather than forcing or “performing” a particular emotion or idea.

Text is an important part of the process. You will experiment with how breath, imagination and physical expression can bring words to life, creating a more truthful and connected relationship with what you are saying. The aim is not simply to sound better, but to become more available to the impulses, thoughts and possibilities within the text.

You will gain practical tools to:

  • release unnecessary physical tension and find greater ease in your body
  • develop a freer, more connected breath
  • access greater vocal range, resonance, clarity and expressive power
  • connect breath and voice to thought, feeling and impulse
  • prepare yourself physically and vocally for speaking or performing
  • approach text with greater freedom, imagination and authenticity
  • listen and respond more fully to others
  • take simple exercises into your own practice, whether for performance, speaking or everyday communication

The workshop draws on Deb’s qualification as a designated teacher of Kristin Linklater’s voice method, alongside her experience as an international acting and speaking coach. Her approach combines practical voice work with embodied exploration, helping participants discover and develop their own natural vocal and physical resources.

The workshop is open to everyone. Whether you are an actor, performer, singer, public speaker, business professional, coach or leader — or simply someone who wants to explore their voice and physical expression, and get better at communication, self-awareness and confidence — no previous experience is required.

Come and explore what happens when you give yourself permission to breathe, move, speak and express with greater freedom. Leave with practical tools you can continue to use long after the workshop.
